The Terra Twin template, originally designed by Alex Lopez for use with his Terra Pin board, stands at 5.63", making it one of the tallest twin fin options. This height, combined with a 5.42" base, provides the Terra Twin with a significant surface area that complements its upright design. This added surface area will efficiently translate into powerful down-the-line drive. The Terra Twin features a gradual sweeping rake and a nicely tapered fin tip. This combination allows surfers the freedom to execute quick directional changes and seamless transitions from rail to rail. The Terra Twin is properly suited for twin pins, eggy shapes, performance twins, and longer fish designs.
The twin setup keeps it loose through the turns and allows it to hang high on the face of steeper waves.
Powerful down-the-line drive.
This is a twin that tracks, not one that blows out or snaps through the lip. For the mid-length twin — a board like the Terrapin, or any egg you surf with intention — it delivers drive and hold without sacrificing the ability to pivot. Don't buy it for a shorter fish or if you want a twin that releases and squirts.
The Terrapin Twin is a twin fin designed by Oceanside shaper Alex Lopez for his Terrapin mid-length and manufactured by True Ames in solid fiberglass, available in FCS and Futures-compatible versions. It measures 5.63 inches tall with a 5.42-inch base and 22.27 square inches of surface area, with an upright rake, and is currently listed in a single Large size. It is intended for wider-tailed mid-lengths and eggs in the 7'0"–8'6" range with twin fin boxes.
