The Details
A navy and royal swirl eats the entire front, drawn as torn brush strokes rather than clean vector, with AXO in purple block caps over Power in graffiti script and SPORTS in a hard slab under it. The sleeves get the inverse: white panels, scratchy blue combing, the logo again at the shoulder and once more inside the cuff. Nothing about it is subtle, which was the commercial logic of AXO's all-over-print decade — jerseys built to be identified from the far side of a track, photographed in a magazine, and then sold to thousands of people who had never sat on a bike. The Italian brand had the results to back the noise: McGrath on Kawasaki in 1990, Jeff Stanton on Honda from 1992 to 1994, Ricky Carmichael in Pro Circuit colours in 1997–98. By 1998 the American arm had been sold, and this kind of print is what it left behind.
