A 7" bonzer centre fin on DRD4's own template β full through the base, mellow through the rake, cut for a standard fin box.
Seven inches of solid fiberglass in black, for a single or longboard box. The template is full through the base with the rake kept mellow, which is what a bonzer centre fin is asked to do: hold a line and leave the rest to the runners. On a Bonzer 3 or a Bonzer 5 the centre fin and the runners organise the water together, and the speed the setup is known for comes out of that relationship rather than out of any single fin in it. Derrick Disney drew this one.
A full base gives the fin something to push against coming off the bottom, so the board holds its speed through the turn instead of bleeding it. Mellow rake keeps the fin from hanging on past the point you wanted it to let go β the tail comes round rather than tracking straight out the back of the arc. Run without runners it is simply a full-based single fin with a classic outline; run with them it is half of a system.
Bonzer 3s and Bonzer 5s first, since that is the template's whole reason for existing and the runners are what it is drawn to work with. After that, β70s-style pintails ridden as single fins, where a full base and mellow rake give long drawn-out turns something to lean on without the fin ever feeling stiff.
