The Farberow Flex came to fruition when Josh Farberow, a true maestro who surfs with surgical precision, came to us with a request.
A medium body with rake and fine-tuned flex that gives dependable stability, smooth flowing turns and real spring out of the pocket.
The idea was to keep the proven California Classic shape but foil it thinner so the fin loads and springs under load — developed for his own performance longboarding in right-hand point surf.
This is the fin for a performance log under a surfer who wants to work the whole wave, not just park on the nose — it adds lively flex and projection to the California Classic outline. If you want the same outline stiffer and more predictable, go California Classic; if you want planted nose time instead of spring, go Dewey Weber Hatchet.
The Farberow Flex is a single fin made by True Ames with Josh Farberow, taking the California Classic template and foiling it thinner for a performance level of flex. It has a medium body with rake and comes in three sizes: 9.0", 9.5", and 10.0", with most performance logs landing on the 9.5". It was developed for Farberow's performance longboarding in right-hand point surf.
The Farberow Flex uses the same outline; the standard California Classic is the stiffer, more predictable version while the Flex adds lively spring and projection.
The review points to the Hatchet for a heavier, planted noseride instead of flex and spring.
The review suggests the Spicy for a more upright pivot feel.
