Introducing an unreleased Larry Gephart template to the world...
Introducing an unreleased Larry Gephart template to the world... the 5x5. Sporting a balanced base to height ratio, flat inside foils and gorgeocurves, the 5x5 is a performance driven twin for the ages.
The near-equal base and height ratio shortens the long, drawn-out feel of a true keel and puts the drive into a more compact footprint, and the flat inside foil keeps the set fast without making it twitchy.
Run the 5x5 on a fish or twin you want to surf aggressively, especially shorter swallow-tail shapes where a full keel feels glued down. If your board is a longer, flatter fish and you want classic drawn-out keel trim, the Gephart 70/30 Keels are the better call.
The Gephart 5x5 Twins are a twin fin set from San Diego shaper Larry Gephart, made by True Ames in solid fiberglass with Futures-compatible bases. The template uses a near-equal base-to-height ratio, shorter in base than Gephart's keel templates, with a flat inside foil. The set is intended for fish and twin-fin boards, including shorter swallow-tail shapes.
The 70/30 Keels sit lower with more rake and draw the long San Diego line, where the 5x5 turns sooner and parks less.
The review points to the Furrow Twin for something even looser and more upright off the rail than the 5x5.
