The Heritage pays homage to original surf style and classic fin design.
The combination is deliberate: the wide base holds the tail down so the nose lifts, and the drawn-out rake keeps sweeping turns clean rather than skittish. It is built to do one job extremely well rather than to cover every board you own.
Put it on a heavy classic log when nose time is the whole point and you want the tail planted under you. If you would rather surf rail to rail and turn off the tail, the Greenough Stage III or the more versatile Hobie Classic are better fits; the Heritage is single-minded by design.
The Heritage is True Ames' in-house single fin based on traditional pivot templates, combining a wide base with drawn-out rake. It is built in fiberglass and comes in three sizes, 9.75 inch, 10.0 inch, and 10.5 inch, in a wide range of colors. It is intended for heavy classic longboards with wide square tails in knee-to-chest-high surf.
The Stage III is built to surf rail to rail and turn off the tail, where the Heritage trades that liveliness for locked-in nose time and a planted tail.
The Hobie Classic carries more rake and a fuller tip for fluid all-around turning, making the Heritage the more single-minded noseriding pivot.
