The newest heavy water quads are here. Designed by surfboard builder, craftsman and big wave charger Danny Hess, the Noriega Quad set ticks all the boxes when it comes to being well-equipped for the big stuff. The large sized front fin combined with the complimentary area distribution of the rear offers stability, speed and control... three important factors when surfing big waves. The solid fiberglass construction and specially designed foils make these fins reliable and trustworthy when you need to count on them most. The Noriega Quads have been given a hearty stamp of approval after rigorotesting both at Mavericks and Ocean Beach. If you're looking to invest in quality assurance and some added peace of mind for larger waves, then look no further.
Built for stability, speed, and control in serious surf — Hess built these to be reliable under load rather than skatey and loose. The front-fin area gives you hold and speed off the bottom; the rear keeps the tail from washing out when you commit.
Run it on a quad you intend to push in powerful, cold, OB-style surf where hold and drive matter more than looseness. If your waves are smaller and softer and you want the tail to release and skate, a smaller-area quad like the John Simon Type I is the friendlier pick — the Noriega earns its keep when the wave has push.
The Noriega Quad is a four-fin set designed by Danny Hess and made in solid fiberglass with Futures-compatible bases. The set pairs a large front fin with a complementary smaller rear, splitting area toward the front of the cluster. The design was tested at Mavericks and Ocean Beach and is intended for quads ridden in larger, more powerful surf.
