Bob McTavish was pivotal in ushering in the era of Australian involvement surfing, and is still influential in progressive style longboarding. The 11" McTavish Involvement is the quintessential fin design to continue to push the envelop on what is possible for stylistic progressive longboarding. With the medium base, coupled with the upright nature and tip flex, the McTavish Involvement fin will do it all.
Form | Deep upright template, medium base, concave tip taper
Function | Full hold, pivoty turns, ample drive
Feel | Enhanced tip flex is apparent, nimble for its size, solid from all areas of the board
Overall | Built for traditional performance longboard surfing
Nimble for its size.
Plenty of hold, but just enough pivot for smooth turns — it's the one McTavish currently teams up with the Noosa 66.
The extreme end of the pivot-trim-noseride approach for small lined-up waves.
It isn't a dedicated noserider — it's a pivot-trim fin with enough hold to keep you forward, and it earns each step of the walk. On a pig or wide-tail traditional single at a lined-up point, the 11-inch upright template is exactly right; on anything shorter than 9 feet, skip it.
An upright 11-inch single fin in Bob McTavish's line, available in that size only and sold through True Ames. The template pairs a medium-width base with a concave, flexing tip, and carries full lateral resistance through the lower two-thirds of the fin. It was designed for wide-tailed, pig-template traditional longboards of 9 feet and over, and is the fin McTavish pairs with the Involvement and Noosa 66 board models.
