The back of this shirt is the tour, hand-lettered in the same wobbly marker as the band name on the front: Glasgow, Lowlands Festival, Pukkelpop Festival, Reading Festival, then Montreal, Toronto, Chicago, Boston, Washington D.C., New York, Atlanta, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, with 1995 under it. Three European festivals and ten North American cities in a year when Silverchair's three members were fifteen and still enrolled in high school in Newcastle, New South Wales. Frogstomp had arrived that March, cut in nine days, and gone to number one in Australia and number nine on the Billboard 200 while the Australian press worked through its nicknames for them β Silverhighchair, not Soundgarden but Kindergarten, Nirvana in Pyjamas. The front is a pig-faced clown in green and pink with its mouth open, and that is the period's whole merch logic: grunge-era tour shirts wanted something ugly and hand-made on the chest rather than a band photograph. Nobody was going to print three schoolboys on the front.
Vintage Silverchair Freakshow t-shirt from the 1995 USA Tour. Front features the iconic pig man/clown artwork with "Silverchair" in white script. Back lists USA tour dates and cities with "1995" and "Silverchair" text. Two-sided print.
