The Troy Elmore Egg features an outstanding blend of timeless curves and foil, creating a versatile fin well-suited for mid-lengths.
An outstanding blend of timeless curves and foil, with an upright profile that allows for a tight turning radius and responsive pocket surfing.
Put the Elmore Egg on a 6'2" to 8'0" egg or mid-length when you want tight pivot turns and pocket response with enough drive to keep speed; it rewards an active style more than pure trimming. For trim and glide go Skip Frye, for more hold through the turn the Tappy MOD, and for base-driven drive in weak surf the Greenough 4A.
The Troy Elmore Egg is a single fin designed by shaper Troy Elmore and made by True Ames in solid fiberglass, in one size, 8.0 inch. The template is upright with a moderate base tapering to a narrow tip. It is intended for eggs and mid-lengths roughly in the 6'2" to 8'0" range.
The Skip Frye single is built for trim, glide, and a planted line, where the Elmore Egg is the looser, more turn-happy choice.
The Tappy MOD's fuller tip pivots tight but holds a bit harder through the arc.
The 4A is the more drawn-out option for an egg that feels dead and needs base width and drive in soft surf.
