(3 Fin Set) Futures Compatible.
(3 Fin Set) Futures Compatible. High rake with full volume (area). Best in waves with some down-the-line power. Most notable is the smaller back fin loosening up the tail of your board. These Futures Compatible fins are made of ultra light hexcore, for amazing drive and perfect flex.
Side Fins: Height: 4.50" / 114mm | Base: 4.45" / 113mm | Area: 15.09"² / 97.35cm²
Back Fin: Height: 4.35" / 111mm | Base: 4.30" / 110mm | Area: 13.99"² / 90.25cm²
The smaller back fin loosens up the tail of your board, and the CI template is credited with dependable drive and effortless release.
Run this small Hexcore set on a Futures-boxed shortboard if you're a lighter surfer or mostly ride smaller, weaker waves and want a loose, responsive tail that turns quick. If you're heavier or surf powerful waves and need locked-in hold, step up to the CI Tri Large instead.
Three-fin thruster set designed with the Channel Islands team and foiled by True Ames, in the small size with Hexcore construction and a single-tab Futures-compatible base. Hexcore uses hexagonal coremat to displace glass and resin, running about 25% lighter than solid fiberglass with slightly softer flex. The template was refined by Chuck Ames over decades of foiling thruster sets for Channel Islands, and the same small Hexcore set is also offered with an FCS base.
The review calls the Small the looser, more forgiving choice for lighter surfers and softer waves, with the Large for heavier surfers driving hard in powerful waves.
The review notes the FCS version of this same small Hexcore set differs only in box compatibility.
