The High Pro Twin is True Ames' own twin template, drawn in-house for the way twins are being ridden now β everything from beachbreak to solid overhead surf. True Ames lists it at 5.10" deep on a 4.96" base, 19.28 sq in, which is slightly smaller than a standard upright performance twin, with a healthy base width and area carried through the tip. This set adds a centre trailer behind that pair. Both the twins and the trailer take a 3/4" Futures base.
Solid fiberglass makes the pair firm and stable rather than flexy, and the flat inside foil at 6.5Β° produces lift: down-the-line speed, power off the bottom and through the lip, and smooth rail-to-rail surfing. Base width holds the fin in through a carve while the area at the tip still lets it release when the turn is finished.
Run the two fins alone and the board is looser and freer, which is the point of a twin. Drop the trailer in and the tail stops sliding as early: more stability, more hold in a line, a feel that leans closer to a thruster. Two boards' worth of behaviour out of one set, which is the reason to buy the three rather than the two.
Want the twins on their own? The True Ames High Pro Twin Fiberglass (Futures). Want the trailer to flex and twist instead of sitting firm? The Power Trailer + Twin-Fin Set, which uses the Greenough PT-1.
