The design is an advertisement for a tour nobody expected to matter, printed once on the front and again on the back: IN CONCERT, NIRVANA in red, a three-up band photo, USA '91, then twenty-four cities in tiny type — Olympia, Seattle, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Sacramento, Santa Cruz, Portland, east across the country, back to San Diego — and the line that dates it to the week: NEW ALBUM OUT NOW! The album was Nevermind, released 24 September 1991, which Geffen had forecast at around 250,000 copies. The American dates were booked before anyone knew. The three Pacific Northwest shows that closed the leg had been sold with Mudhoney headlining; by the night they were played Nirvana had been moved to the top of the bill and the Seattle date shifted from the Moore to the Paramount, 2,800 people, the biggest room of the run. In January the record went to number one. Handbill-layout tour prints are their own collecting lane, and the city list is what does the dating.
