The Wilderness Flex is a specialized design with a long-time, loyal following.
It was designed by Bob Duncan to be the perfect complement to stubby-style designs and fun shapes — the swept tip and slight flex create the drive needed to link the long sections found in point waves.
Put this on a stubby or fun shape for point waves and down-the-line speed — the rake and flex carry you through dead spots so you can connect sections and lay into a drawn-out turn at the end. It's built for trim-and-flow point surfing rather than tight pocket work; if you'd rather have a more upright, neutral all-around single, go with the YU Spring Arch.
The Wilderness Flex is Bob Duncan's classic Wilderness template, pulled from the True Ames archives where it has lived for decades. It carries moderate area with pronounced rake, a swept tip, and slight flex. Stocked in 7.6", it goes on stubbies, fun shapes, and similar boards as a single fin or paired with side bites.
