The CI Noserider fin, developed through extensive R&D by Devon Howard, Troy Mothershead, Chuck Ames, and Wayne Rich, is purpose-built to provide confident noseriding while maintaining trim, balance, and responsive turning. Unlike traditional pivot fins, it anchors the tail for solid nose hold without creating a heavy, clunky feel, encouraging smoother rail-to-rail transitions and stylish, drawn-out turns. Designed primarily for the Channel Islands Noserider longboard shaped by Wayne Rich, with its refined nose, tail, rocker, and bottom contours, this fin also complements other traditional noseriders seeking secure nose hold without sacrificing maneuverability.
Form | Narrow tipped pivot fin, wide base, full foil
Function | excellent hold, reduced tip area and enough rake for smooth turns
Feel | stable from all points on the board, turning freedom, plenty of hold
Overall | Well balanced modern pivot fin
Anchors the tail for nose hold while removing the heavier log feeling.
Run it on a traditional noserider when you want secure nose hold with a lighter, more sensitive feel than a heavy hatchet pivot — it plants the tail and lifts the nose but disappears underfoot. If you want a steadier, more planted single, look at the California Classic instead; for a turn-happier all-arounder, the Barrett Miller Ace.
The True Ames Channel Islands Noserider is a solid fiberglass single fin refined with Devon Howard, Wayne Rich, Troy Mothershead, and Chuck Ames. The template combines a narrow tip, wide base, and full foil with moderate rake. It comes in 9.75" and 10.25" sizes: the 9.75" suits boards under about 9'5" or lighter riders, the 10.25" longer logs or heavier riders. It was drawn primarily for the CI Noserider longboard shaped by Wayne Rich and works on other traditional noseriders.
The review calls the California Classic steadier and more planted, where the CI Noserider feels livelier and more responsive while still holding the nose.
Against the all-around Barrett Miller Ace, the CI Noserider commits further toward dedicated nose time.
