Built for traditional power surfing: the upright, low-rake side fins give the set its solid drive and hold, and the slightly smaller trailer lets the tail release when you redirect.
This is the set for a hybrid or alternative shortboard when you want classic power-surfing drive with stable hold in the pocket and the tube — it rewards a surfer who leans on rail and draws speed lines. If you'd rather have the looser, faster-feeling drift of two fins on a fuller board, go with the Wayne Rich Twins instead.
The TW Tri is a three-fin thruster set designed by Tyler Warren and made by True Ames in solid fiberglass, sold in both Futures- and FCS-compatible versions. The side fins are upright with low rake and the trailer runs slightly smaller than the sides. Warren built the template to match the alternative and hybrid shortboards he shapes.
